Privacy Policy

Dry Run lets you practise a difficult conversation out loud, with an AI voice playing the other person. That means the app handles two things worth being precise about: your microphone while a call is running, and the transcript of what you said afterwards. This policy explains what happens to both, and to everything else the app collects.
1. Signing in
You can open Dry Run and start practising before you have an account. When you do sign in, it is with Sign in with Apple or with Google. Both hand us an identity token that your device already holds — we never see or store a password, and we never receive the credentials you use with Apple or Google. What we record is that a particular Apple or Google identity belongs to your Dry Run account, along with the email address that identity supplies. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
Before you sign in, your device holds a random identifier so the app knows which situations and calls are yours. It is not your name, your email, or your Apple ID, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites. Signing in later attaches your identity to that same account rather than starting a new one.
2. The questions in onboarding
When you first set up the app, Dry Run asks about your role, the conversation you are dreading, what is riding on it, how often you have conversations like it, and where you heard about us. Your answers are used to shape the situations the app suggests and to understand who the product is for. They are stored against your account only once you have signed in; if you never sign in, they stay on your device.
3. Your voice during a call
A practice call needs your microphone, and the app asks for that permission before the first one. While a call is running, your speech is streamed live to the call platform we use to run practice calls, which is what lets the other side hear you and answer.
What Dry Run itself keeps from a call is the text transcript, not the audio. Where audio capture is enabled for a call, a recording is held on the call platform for a limited period — 90 days by default — and is then deleted automatically. Nothing from a practice call is published, shared with other users, or used to identify you.
Separately, when you dictate a situation instead of typing it, the speech recognition that turns your words into text runs on your device. That audio does not leave your phone.
4. Transcripts and scores
The transcript of a call is captured on your device from the call's own live transcription and stored against your account, so you can read it back later and so a score can be produced from it. To score a call, the transcript is sent to a third-party AI provider which returns a rating across six dimensions along with a short note pointing at where each one showed. We do not use your transcripts to train models.
You can delete any individual transcript from the app, and deleting it removes it from our servers.
5. Situations you write
When you describe a conversation you want to practise, the sentence you write is sent to a third-party AI provider which composes the other person — a title, a summary, a persona, and how the call should be judged. Both your original sentence and what the model wrote from it are stored against your account so the situation is there next time. Please keep in mind that these descriptions often name real colleagues and real circumstances; write only what you are comfortable storing.
6. Subscriptions and payment
Dry Run sells subscriptions and one-off minute top-ups through the Apple App Store. We never see or handle your card details — the transaction is entirely between you and Apple. We use a subscription management service to tell us whether your subscription is active, which plan it is, and when it renews, and we store that alongside how many minutes of conversation you have used in the current period. Apple and that service each handle your information under their own privacy policies.
7. Technical information
Like any internet service, requests from the app to our servers include your device's IP address, which is used to deliver the response and to keep the service secure and reliable — not to identify you personally.
Your account, your situations, and your transcripts are held on secured servers operated for us by an established cloud hosting provider. Traffic between the app and those servers is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to what is needed to run the service. No online service can promise perfect security, but this data is private by default: it is never sold, and never shared for advertising.
8. Who processes what
We rely on a small number of established third-party providers to run Dry Run. Each is bound by an agreement with us and processes information only in order to provide its service:
Cloud hosting — our servers, and the database your account, situations, and transcripts live in.
Real-time voice — carries the live audio of a practice call and speaks the other person's side of it.
AI models — write a situation from your description, and score a transcript.
Subscription management — tells us whether your subscription is active.
Apple and Google— sign-in; Apple also handles all payments.
If you want to know which specific companies sit behind these roles, ask through the contact page and we will tell you.
9. What we do not collect
Dry Run does not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photo library, your health records, or any government identifier. There is no advertising in the app and no advertising or tracking identifiers are collected. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the providers listed above.
10. Keeping and deleting your data
Your situations, calls, transcripts, and scores are kept for as long as your account exists, because the point of them is to be there when you come back. You are in control of removing them:
You can delete a single transcript from the call it belongs to. You can delete an entire situation and everything under it. And you can delete your whole account from the profile screen, which marks it for deletion and removes your account and everything attached to it — situations, calls, transcripts, scores, and onboarding answers. If you would prefer we do this for you, or you want to know what we hold, ask through the contact page.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, and you cancel one from Settings on your iPhone.
11. Children
Dry Run is intended for adults practising workplace conversations and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will remove it.
12. International users
Dry Run is operated from India and its providers operate globally. By using the app you understand that your information may be processed on servers located outside your own country.
13. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. If a change materially affects what happens to your voice or your transcripts, we will make that clear in the app as well.
14. Contact
If you have a question about this policy, or a request about your data, please get in touch.
